Rhinoplasty: the aftermath

Rhinoplasty has been one of the most sought after procedure by celebrities and non-celebrities alike. It has provided numerous patients with great satisfaction, and transformed a lot of people beautifully. But rhinoplasty doesn’t happen with a little flick of a fairy godmother’s wand and voila! New nose!

No, it’s a little more complicated than that. After the procedure, your nose is going to look like it exploded for a few days. The nose and the area around it are going to look swollen and badly bruised because of the procedure. In most cases, the bruising slowly disappears shortly after a week if the nasal bones are not damaged or broken. If they are, the bruising could expand to the areas around the eyes and the face, and this could take more time to recover.

The recovery time of patients vary from a week to as long as six months, depending on the complexity of the type of rhinoplasty you have undergone. Aside from bruising and swelling, numbness on the tip of the nose is also a normal effect of a rhinoplasty right after the surgery,

Generally though, the pain from the surgery could still be considered minimal, relative to other types of plastic surgery. Some patients were even able to get back to work only after a week’s recovery period.

The final results of the rhinoplasty could be seen after six months, and that’s when you can truly appreciate your transformation. Still, it doesn’t seem at all that bad, does it?
